Wellbeing > SSS Support
At our school, we value the wellbeing and success of every student.
We understand that some children may face challenges that make learning or participation more difficult at times. To support students and families, we work closely with the Department of Education’s Student Support Services (SSS) team.
Student Support Services assist children and young people to reach their full learning and developmental potential. The team includes a range of professionals who work in partnership with schools, students, and families.
The SSS team may include: –
- Psychologists – Help schools and families understand how to best support a student’s learning and wellbeing. They can suggest strategies for the classroom, assist with Disability Inclusion Profiles, and provide support after challenging or critical events.
- Speech Pathologists – Support students who have difficulty with speaking, understanding or using language, as well as reading, writing, or social communication. They also help school staff and families with strategies to build communication and literacy skills.
- Social Workers – Support students and families who may be experiencing social, emotional, or personal challenges. They can work with individuals, small groups, or families and provide guidance during difficult times.
- Occupational Therapists – Help students develop the skills needed for learning and participation at school. This includes supporting self-regulation, coordination, fine and gross motor skills, and sensory needs. They also coach teachers to support these skills in the classroom.
- Behaviour Analysts – Work with schools to understand and respond to behaviours of concern. They help design plans and strategies that promote positive behaviour and student engagement.
