What is Sandtray Therapy?
• A child-led activity using sand and miniature figures to express thoughts and emotions.
• A gentle, non-verbal way to help children connect ideas and feelings.
• Builds self-awareness, emotional courage, and confidence.
What happens in a session?
• A one-on-one session in a safe, child-friendly space.
• Children build scenes in a tray of sand using toys and figurines—no pressure to talk.
• The therapist observes and gently supports, helping children explore their story at their own pace.
Who is it for?
Ideal for children in Prep to Year 6, especially those who:
• Need sensitive support with emotions or behaviour.
• Are adjusting to changes (e.g. new school year, family situations).
• Benefit from creative, hands-on expression rather than talking.
