At Colac West Primary School, we recognise the importance of strong, meaningful connections with our wider community. Our staff and students are committed to participating in community initiatives that foster social development, build confidence, and strengthen students’ sense of belonging as active and valued contributors.

In 2026, our Year 3/4 cohort will take part in an Intergenerational Program through regular visits to Mercy Place Aged Care, attending three times each term. During these visits, students and residents will engage in a range of shared activities designed to promote empathy, communication, and mutual enjoyment.

We are also in the planning stages for our Year 5/6 students to participate in the Salvation Army’s Engage program, an initiative that provides hands-on opportunities for students to support the Salvos team in their day-to-day operations.

Our P/1/2 students continue to host visits from the local kindergarten, offering a welcoming space where younger children can join in games, arts and crafts, and other educational and collaborative activities.

Colac West Primary School takes pride in contributing to major community events. Our students participate in the annual Kana Festival parade, representing our school with enthusiasm and creativity. In addition, staff have supported local events such as the inaugural Colac Children’s Festival and the Colac Show by hosting interactive stalls.

Through these programs and partnerships, we aim to strengthen our connection with the community and enrich the educational experience of every local student.
